| Q: Who are you guys?
(Show Answer)
A: We are a group of young filmmakers who recently graduated from California State University Northridge. We have been working together on various short films during the last years and our thesis film entitled “Bauhaus – Broken Wings” has spiked the interest of a Los Angeles based production studio that has offered us the opportunity to produce a feature film with them. Since we believe that a strong script is the base of all good films, we are reaching out for you to be a part of our dream.
Q: What are you looking for in a Script?
(Show Answer)
A: Since there isn’t an immense amount of money we can throw in this film, it is particularly important to us to have a script that makes use of intriguing characters and story lines. We strongly believe that you can make amazing films without much money if you start off with a smart and unique script. However, you should keep in mind that the studio is looking for a thriller or a comedy and that your screenplay must be feasible on a limited budget. Instead of focusing on special effects and expansive locations we are hoping to find a script that is based on unique characters and if possible limited to a few locations.
Q: Will I be paid if you choose my script?
(Show Answer)
A: Yes! However, this isn’t a $40 million production so don’t expect to receive a $1 million check in the mail. All people involved in this production work for minimal wages in order to advance their careers in the movie industry. We do believe though that each and every person should be paid including you. Payment details will be discussed with the studio once your script has been taken into consideration.
Q: Where will the finished movie end up?
(Show Answer)
A: The production Studio we are working with has set up a DVD release deal with a major distribution company in Hollywood. Therefore, the primary release market will be on DVD (Sale and Rental). However, as upcoming filmmakers we will also explore the festival market in order to advance our careers.
Q: What locations are available to you?
(Show Answer)
A: We will have access to all Studio facilities as well as limited on-location access. For production purposes all the locations in your script should be realizable in the greater Los Angeles area. (Or there should be a way that the script could be rewritten to fit into the Los Angeles area.)
Q: After you receive my screenplay/synopsis what happens next?
(Show Answer)
A: We will read each and every synopsis that we receive. If we are intrigued by the synopsis, we will read the entire script. If we like the script and think that it could be produced within our budget and location limitations, we will forward your idea to the studio that will be in charge of the final screenplay decision. We will try to respond to every submission we receive, however please be patient. We will also let you know whether your script will be forwarded to the studio.
Q: What format will this film be shot on?
(Show Answer)
A: Since we are at a very early production stage, we cannot answer this question with any certainty at the moment. The screenplay will dictate the shooting format to be used. Some ideas will lend themselves to be shot on HD, others would benefit from a 16mm film production.
Q: Will you respect my copyright?
(Show Answer)
A: Absolutely Yes! At EmotionP we are all artists and we understand your concern about copyright infringement. We will never use any of your material without your consent. Furthermore, we urge you to protect your copyright by registering your screenplay with the Library of Congress. Q: I have more questions, how can I contact you?
(Show Answer)
A: Please don’t hesitate to contact us with your questions at: screenplay@emotionp.com. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
